2024 New Hires & Changes

Our employees play an important role in Wiss’ success. That’s why we strive to provide you with a benefits program that rewards you for the hard work and dedication you put forth every day.

This enrollment period is your one opportunity to elect your benefits unless you experience a qualifying life event; such as birth, adoption, marriage, or divorce during the year. Otherwise, you must wait until the next annual open enrollment in the fall of 2024.

The more you understand the benefits that Wiss & Co makes available, the better equipped you will be to select the best and most cost-effective benefits for you and your family.

Below is a summary of the benefits offered to you, eligibility, and enrollment instructions.  Additional information can be viewed by accessing the links on the banner at the top of this page

Medical

The two Aetna Medical Plan options available to you are: the Base HSA Plan and the Enhanced HSA Plan.

Inspira Financial Health Savings Account is also provided alongside both medical plans.

Please review our 2024 Wiss Informational HSA Guide (pdf) to learn more about the benefits of contributing to an HSA.

Commuter Program

Our Commuter Program is also administered by P&A Group. This program allows you to pay for eligible transportation expenses to and from work with pre-tax dollars deducted from your monthly paycheck. These funds can be used to pay for Parking and Mass Transit costs incurred while commuting to and from work.

Basic Life/ AD&D and LTD

Employees are eligible for Basic Life/AD&D insurance administered by UNUM and will receive this coverage at no cost to them. There is also an option to enroll in a contributory LTD plan with a benefit of 60% of your monthly earnings up to $6,000 for non-managers. More information is available in the Life/AD&D and LTD section.

Balancing your work and personal life can be challenging. Wiss is here to help by offering its employees the Unum Employee Assistance Program.  This program allows you access to a licensed professional counselor and online work/life balance tools.  All calls are kept confidential and have no additional cost to you!

Please Note: Only employees enrolled in the Unum LTD plan have the EAP available to them.

Travel Assistance Services

When you travel 100 miles or more away from your home, one phone call to Unum’s Travel Assistance Services, provided by Assist America, connects you to medically certified personnel who are ready to help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year — and can connect you with pre-qualified, English-speaking and Western-trained medical providers anywhere in the world.

Which family members can be covered?

When you enroll yourself in the benefits program, you may also enroll your eligible dependents. Please review your dependent’s eligibility to ensure they meet the requirements to be covered under our benefit plans.

Eligible dependents may include:

  • Same-Sex Domestic Partners
  • Your dependent children up to age 26 (regardless of marital status), including a natural child, stepchild, a legally adopted child, a child placed for adoption, or a child for whom you or your spouse are the legal guardians
  • Your unmarried children age 26 or older who are mentally or physically disabled and who rely on you for support and care

IMPORTANT: When adding dependents to your coverage, proof of documentation will be required (e.g., birth certificate, divorce decree, marriage license, court papers for guardianship/adoption).

Making Changes

Qualified Life Events

After your initial open enrollment, you may make changes to your benefit elections only during the next annual enrollment period, unless you have a qualified life event as defined by the IRS. If a change in status occurs, you are permitted to make changes consistent with the event.

Qualified Life Events, as defined by the IRS, include:

  • Marriage or divorce
  • Gain or loss of an eligible dependent for reasons such as birth, adoption, court order, disability, death, marriage or reaching the dependent child age limit
  • Changes in your Spouse’s/Qualified Domestic Partner’s employment affecting benefit eligibility

If any of these changes occur, it is your responsibility to alert Human Resources to add or remove your dependent(s) within 31 days of the date of the qualifying event.

Enrollment Deadline
You must make your elections during this initial enrollment period. Any changes outside of your initial enrollment period or during our annual open enrollment, requires a qualifying life event.
